RECORD BREAKING SUMMER FOR CORNWALL SERVICES WITH 255,000 VISITORS DURING AUGUST

Cornwall Services on the A30 near Bodmin has announced that August 2020 was a record month with more than 102,000 vehicles visiting the site, the highest monthly figure since the facility opened in 2014. With each vehicle carrying an estimated 2.5 people, this equates to more than 255,000 visitors in total for the month, which is a staggering 8,225 people per day.

It was also a successful first season for the new Holiday Inn Express which opened onsite earlier in the year. The hotel has exceeded all expectations; it provided vital accommodation for key workers during lockdown between March and June and has since been operating at full capacity over the summer.

Cornwall Services is hoping to attract a new local food convenience store in the coming months. Andrew King, commercial manager, explains: “We are hoping that a local food and drink provider or cooperative will take the opportunity to tap into the high volume of both local and tourist traffic. A convenience food store where people can pop in for a snack, stock up on essentials and perhaps also buy a ready prepared meal or treat would be a perfect complement to what is currently on offer at the Services.”

He continues: “Cornwall Services has gone from strength to strength since opening six years ago. We have a strong base of loyal local people as well as regularly returning visitors – and with domestic holidaying looking like a popular option for the foreseeable future it seems likely that this is set to continue.”

Cornwall Services is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. The current food offering includes major brands such as McDonalds, Costa and Subway alongside local food from Rowe’s Cornish Bakers and the Cornish Pizza Kitchen. A Costa Drive-Thru was a new addition this summer and a Greggs Bakery will be opening soon. Also on site is a WH Smiths, Mango Surf Shop, Saltrock clothing, Indoor Active and Ready Teddy’s barbers.
