Meet the team!
We’re going behind the scenes at Cornwall Services and introducing you to the team. First up is site manager, Alex Lawson…
How long have you worked at Cornwall Services?
I’ve worked here for 11 years!
What does your job involve?
I’m the site manager, I oversee the land, buildings and facilities. Making sure maintenance is kept up to date and the cleaning staff are covering all areas. I also love interacting with the general public helping when needed. I arrange different charities to spend the day at the services raising vital funding for them.
What is your favourite part of the job and why?
The general public! Seeing familiar faces and holiday makers coming back year after year. I also oversee the Changing Places facility so our site is inclusive for all to use. Christmas time when we have the ‘Sing & Sign’ group is emotional every year!
What is your favourite time of year in Cornwall and why?
All year round! The local community are lovely people so I see them all year round. Summertime with holiday makers and the kids on summer break.
Obviously, Christmas is my favourite when we have the brass band in and the sing and sign group and the building is full of Christmas decorations.
What is your favourite place in Cornwall and why?
Too many to list, I love my hometown of Carlyon Bay/Charlestown. Kynance Cove is stunning too.
What is your recommendation of a good thing to do on a rainy day in Cornwall?
Visit the Eden Project? Get a waterproof on and still go on an adventure!
Where would you suggest is a good place to visit on a sunny day in Cornwall?
Go over to Newquay area, plenty to do, stunning beaches.
